The origins of the Schlaadt Corporate Group date back to 1904 when Georg Stephan Schlaadt founded a timber business in the Loreley town of St. Goarshausen. He connected spruce wood from the Taunus region into rafts, which then began their journey on the Rhine.
In the 1950s – by which time the rafts had become obsolete – the company successfully adapted to changing market conditions and, under the leadership of the second generation, transformed into a parquet manufacturer. A visible sign of the expansion course was the move to a 70,000 square meter site in Lorch am Rhein in 1959.
Just a year later, Schlaadt laid the foundation for the future as one of the first companies to acquire the license to manufacture Styropor®. The plastic held enormous potential, which the third-generation managing directors, Theo and Hermann Schlaadt, knew how to exploit.
Since the invention of Styropor®, we have been significantly shaping the development of packaging and functional parts made from particle foams through a wealth of innovative ideas. Our material spectrum has since been complemented by other plastics such as EPP, Neopor®, or copolymers, which find their way to customers both as molded parts or as cuttings.
This demonstrates our daily expertise in particle foams when it comes to solutions for ‘packaging – protecting – insulating’.
Schlaadt is a solidly grown network of specialized, mutually complementary companies. At five national production sites and one location in the USA, over 320 employees work daily on innovative solutions for satisfied customers.
At the headquarters in Lorch, Schlaadt Plastics processes Styropor® (EPS), EPP, Neopor®, and co-polymers. Additionally, the development and innovation center, Schlaadt Recycling, and a cutting location are located here.
Schlaadt HighCut in Mülheim is a competent contact for cuttings and contoured parts made of particle foams. On high-precision systems, rigid foam blocks from our own production are shaped into individual customer solutions – flexibly, reliably, quickly.
With Schlaadt GFH in Bretzfeld-Bitzfeld and in Dillingen/Donau, Schlaadt maintains two locations in the south of the republic. Through this regional distribution, we are always close to the market and thus have short paths to the customer in every respect.
The overseas business is based at Schlaadt Plastics Ltd in New Bern/North Carolina.
